Argentina has formally complained to the BBC about "provocative behaviour" of Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who accused country authorities of conspiring against the show.
Clarkson said he and his crew were forced to crawl underneath their hotel beds for safety after being surrounded by an angry mob, the Independent reported.
He later said the violent protests in Tierra del Fuego were part of a "trap" for the Top Gear team, which was forced to leave the country.
Argentina's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Alicia Castro, went to BBC's headquarters in London yesterday to present her complaint, which referred to Clarkson's allegations of a conspiracy.
The situation blew up after Clarkson wrote a column about it for the UK's Sunday Times. In the same article he claimed the region was a "mafia state", the Independent said.

The conflict began after he was seen driving a car with the number plate H982FKL, which was interpreted as referencing the 1982 Falklands War between Argentina and the UK.
Clarkson said that the controversial plate was merely a coincidence but it has since emerged, during a search of the vehicle by Argentinean police, that the car was also carrying plates with the registration BE11 END.
The BBC was yet to respond to the complaint.
